Yahoo asking for personal info?

Has anyone else recieved an e-mail from YAHOO asking them for their 1) Name 2) e-mail address 3) pword 4) alternate e-mail and pword......and stating that they are doing this in order to update e-mail addresses and make room for new ones. It sounds like a scam to me, but I have been wrong before. I just find it hard to give out such information to just anyone who asks for it....or am I being too vigilant?
