What dose the speed control do on my lawn mower?

if it's not cutting right and using to much fuel .sharpen or replace the blade and do a tune-up.the speed control should only control how fast it moves (how fast you have to walk)the throttle control should be a separate control set at max for mowing or per set and you don't have to worry about it.hope this helps.
