What are some applications of an advanced thermodynamic system? eg. Turbo charger?

I have a paper to do for thermodynamics... its supposed to be based on the application and future of any advanced thermo instrument, component or system. My only problem is finding an application, which once I acquire, I can do some research of my own. Can I please have some suggestions???... :)
